If you know about this almost legendary 1800km long route already, you are aware that it requires technical expertise, physical fitness, special bike setup, off-road experience (preferably in Australia) and heavy preparation. I am already at a good level of preparation myself.
If you are interested and perhaps also looking for a partner, please let me know and we can discuss details in PM.
Please, only serious people apply.

From my research it's closed currently for all of 2020.
May (read may) open for 2021 due to communities fearing Covid etc.
Would pay to check with Wiluna Police Stn for upgrades as you get nearer to date.
We've done it a few times (in 4wd) mainly South to North in May but one year did it in July and it was a lot busier in the later time.
Great country though, you'll enjoy it.
Fuel was available at community stores, longest we travelled was to Kunawarritji which was around 1000k from Wiluna.
We did carry adequate fuel for whole trip though.
All the best in your planning.

Thanks for your reply.
As you can imagine, a lot has changed/happened since February.
I keep the situation under control as much as I can through Facebook's CRS groups. Yes, I'm aware that next year CSR might be closed, but - as they say - the situation is "fluid". We might have a vaccine
On the other hand, sponsors are pulling out of projects. A company I am in touch with (somehow connected to my CSR trip) had to pull out of their Dakkar 2021 because of that.
Time will tell... I know that one way or the other I will be in Australia and perhaps my trip will have to be reorganized.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
