Bikepoint.com.au - for new bikes
Bikesales.com.au - lots of used bikes
ebay.com.au - same as every ebay
tradingpost.com.au - big selection of mostly used
Classifieds – Gumtree Sydney Free Classified Ads – Gumtree Sydney Online Community - sometimes you can find a real bargain, careful of scammers though (melbourne.gumtree.com.au for victoria)

If you're going to kit out a bike you've bought there, just be aware the aftermarket parts are very expensive in Australia. For example, I wanted a larger IMS tank for my DR. In Australia it was nearly $600 so I ordered it from the US and got one for around half that. Same for the replacement Corbin seat I bought.

From what I gather from those sites (cheers everyone btw), the bikes are not that far away from UK prices. A little bit more but still a huge saving on shipping one over.
What a was suprised with is just how few bikes there seem to be for sale. There must be 5-10 times more bikes on UK websites which seems crazy considering the size of Aus.
I would obviously love to take my own bike over but I cant be arsed with the hassel and expense of shipping, carnets , fumigation, insurance etc etc.
I still think it works out WAYYY cheaper to buy there unless anyone can educate me differently ??

Population may have a lot to do with it 21 million versus 70million (plus or minus 5million).
Australian governments are not bike friendly either, I think all States now require a bike rider to hold a car licence for one year before they can get a bike licence and then there are all sorts of restrictions on the rider.

I'm going to be looking for a bike soon aswell once I get to Aus, and have been trawling through those websites like no tomorrow!!
There are def not a ton of bikes for sale in Australia, though apparently if you're willing to spend a bit of time you can find one - you might also have to wait a bit for one with a decent pricetag to come around, S/H prices seem to have gone up a lot lately...

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
