Starting our trip - NZ to GER
Hi Everyone,
long time in the making but it is finally time for us to get going. We will travel from Wellington in NZ to Frankfurt in Germany, as much over land as possible (check our outlined route here).
The first leg is going to be leaving our current home of Wellington on the 3rd of August and arrive in Auckland on the 19th of August, in time to hit the boat to Melbourne.
This is the rough route for NZ. Mostly a bucket list of places we were not able to visit over the last 3 years in NZ.
Any Kiwi travellers along the way who are keen to meet up for a coffee or a place to crash?
p.s.: I made the map for a "give a little" fundraiser we are doing as part of our trip, raising money for UNICEF NZ. If you want to find out more, check it out here .

Have you done 'the loop' around Coromandel Peninsula?
If not, it would be a shame to by-pass it, which is what you appear to have planned.

Yes, although it was around Christmas 2012 when a cyclone left it all pretty rained in. We might do the loop again if the weather looks promising and time permits.
Northland is a must, so we will make a call when we hit the Bay of Plenty.

Hi Guys
If you come through the Bay of Plenty when I am home you are welcome to come & stay. My place is at Lake Rotoiti - a short inland diversion off your route. Will PM contact details.
Cheers
Clint

Where are you now? Are you passing through Sydney? Or straight to Melbourne?

Hey - we just rushed through Auckland to explore Northland the next week. Sorry, no Sidney this time. We will ship from Auckland to Melbourne next Thursday, due to arrive in Melbourne on the 29th (we fly there on the 25th).

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
