Iceland - a cunning plan?
There does not seem to be a bike rental place in Iceland - big pity given the riding there and a missed opportunity for an enterprising local.
What about getting together with a couple of other HUBB members who fancy a couple of weeks in Iceland and getting a bike over there to be passed on. A £1500 trails bike would probably be sufficient - I'm open to suggestions on this. I'm personally more interested in the riding than the bike so long as it is reliable. More interested in looking at the scenery than looking good.
This would save a lot of time and a little money on the ferry. Is this a good idea or unworkable?
Let me know if there is any interest in this.

Hi Hans,
I have seen these guys but they don't rent the bikes from what I have heard.
I would be keen not to do an organised tour in a group too. But maybe this is a good option for Iceland. I hope more information comes to light.

That works out at $400 per day - I was hoping for a 2 week trip which on a pro rata basis might cost as much as $5000! Throw in airfares, accommodation, food and anything else and I'll be bankrupt.
I wonder whether they get many takers or anyone has any experience of renting from them?
I'm keen to know how to do a trip there.
Cheers.

I'm going next summer. Bringing my own bike. One week to/fro on the ferry, two weeks on the island.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
