KLR 650 (All of South America)
Hi, I started my trip solo but my girlfriend has joined me and the KLR is not large enough for the two of us with our gear.
As a result, I have a 2006 KLR 650 with 12,000 miles on it. I'm open to someone using the bike to drive around South America for the next 5-6 months.
In return, I'd like help with shipping the motorcycle back to the states when you are done riding.
I'm aware that this is a bit of a strange solution and I'm happy to discuss other options.
Cheers,

I am tempted by your offer as I am headed to Columbia with my daughter and am starting the process now.
I am hoping you could provide some inside.
Did you buy another bike? What counties have you traveled by bike?
I am starting I'm Colombia and going south to Ecuador, Peru and dropping my daughter in Chile and possibly continue from there.

Hi Coltin,
The bike is currently in Medellin. I'm hanging in Colombia for another few weeks and could meet in Bogota or something if needed.

Hi Asavitt1!
Nope I didn't buy another bike. The KLR 650 is the only one I have. I live in San Francisco and rode it through California, Mexico, Guatamala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, and now Colombia.
Originally, I was going to do a very similar route to you and eventually send the bike from Argentina or Chile as well.
Is there other information I can provide you?

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
