Kawasaki KLR 650 available in UK
Well I've owned my KLR for fifteen years and ridden it a quarter of a million kilometres over six continents and through over 50 countries, but now it is time to move it on.
Unfortunately whilst the bike, despite its age, is still strong and reliable I find I am less so! It's weight and height is putting me off exploring the side tracks and dirt roads I so love and I know picking it up alone is now probably past me. So I have reluctantly decided if I'm to do Alaska next year as planned, a smaller and lighter bike will be much more fun (and safer) option.
A bit about the bike. It is a 1990 Tengai model. It is not pretty, the fairing is held together with pop-rivets and cable ties, the paint is worn and scratched, the stickers many. But if you look under this patina of travel it has been continuously maintained throughout my ownership with many new parts - in fact there was a major engine rebuild in the last 10,000km -and other than the weight issue I would happily go traveling on it again tomorrow.
The bike is currently in Droitwich Spa in the UK but it's on Australian plates at the moment so I'm offering it unregistered and the new owner will need to sort out the complexity of getting it UK registered.
And the price you ask? Well really what some one is willing to pay for it. I will happily give it to someone if that's what it takes to find it a good home, but if you want to give me a few pounds to go to a charity supporting Ukrainians that would be a nice outcome.
Since I've just bought a months insurance I intend to use it over the next few weeks but it is available from early May onwards.
If you are interested please PM me and we can talk
