Bike in Colombia
Hi,
Brave decision to book at ticket so far in advance.
I have a bureaucratic problem here that I can't leave.
Else I would be checking the situation almost weekly, before buying a ticket.
I have prepared some for buying a new bike i Colombia.
I have contact with a Honda dealer and a Royal Enfield dealer.
Both in Medellin.
I have some information from them. If you want.
Then send me a message.
Hondas are made in Brasil. Imported to Colombia.
https://motos.honda.com.co/motos-honda
XR 190L is my candidate.
Royal Enfield has a factory in Colombia
=> No import taxes to pay => extra good value for the money.
https://royalenfieldco.com/motos-royalenfield/
Himalayan is my candidate.
I have no idea about where you plan to ride.
But this is a guide I recommend.
It is both about buying/renting/(shipping) a bike.
A travel in Colombia

Here is a good travel story. And information about the ATK motorcycles.
(Assembled in Colombia, of Chinese and some internal parts)

Good luck with your trip.
Write a travel story.
Thanks

I can help you find a cheap used motorcycle (I live in Bogota)
I'm a US gringo and live in the Bogota.
I can help you find a decent bike for cheap. Keep in mind that bikes over 200cc are going to be more expensive than in other parts of the world. If you don't mind a 200 you can find a ton of cheap bikes.

Hello. I may have to sell mine if I can't cross the border south yet by May. It is a BMW F650 GS 2004 full injection. She is registered in Colombia in my personal name (I am Canadian), SOAT and papers in order and up to August 2022. I would probably leave the gear and camping kit too.
Can joint me by email : globenomade@gmail.com

US Registered KL650 Colombia
Hello,
I've had a US registered KL650 here in Colombia during the COVID epidemic - has SOAT and permission to be in country for 45 days after the 'state of public health emergency ends,' which I believe will be sometime in mid May. I bought the bike a few years back with 25,000, now close to 40,000 though odometer was not functioning for 18 months. The valves have been reground and adjusted, new timing chain and lots of little things over the last couple of years. It has a good big rack on the back and hard saddle bags. I am not really anxious to sell it but I've just had a child and it would be the smart decision. Best to get me on email douglas.lyon@yahoo.com. Douglas

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
