Humpty Dumpty
Hiya Cameron any anyone else who is in the least interested in the saga of Susan´s carbueretor.
I actually found a fantastic mechanic in the big, bad city of Caracas three weeks ago about (see the south american thread for details)..... He adjusted the sliders and for three blissful days the bike ran better than it had ever ran.. I was getting over 40 mpg fully loaded. It was totally astounding until the little piggy bared her little teeth and two blocks away from the hotel in Boa Vista, Brasil, I was trying to find, the bike stalled, belched a cloud of black smoke and refused to start again.
The carbueretor and I are splitting up. It was not the jets, or the orings it is something else and I am just not going to worry about it any more. A good friend in Germany found a newish one on ebay and is sending it to me here in Belem, Brasil. Hopefully, it will get here sometime soon.
The good news is that I have discovered how wonderful the Brasillian people are. I am totally endebted to members of the Brazil Riders club http://www.brazilriders. com.br that have walked me through the complicated steps of shipping and picking up the bike a full 1600 miles! These people have put me up, fed me and in general just have been terrific.
It was going to ride on a boat down the Amazon for 1000 of those miles but still having been on the trip for nearly three weeks and only riding for 3 days is quite disheartening. But this is what it is.
Cheers then
