BMW R-Series owners in and around Ankara + bike storage???
Ladies & Gents,
I was wondering if anyone knows of a fellow R-Series owner in the Ankara
area or on the road east from Ankara towards Iran. I'll be arriving there next week from Syria on my R80 G/S and would love to meet an old hand on these machines who coud share some their wisdom on carbs with me.
Before headng further East I'd like to learn how to overhaul them and balance them etc.
Ah, what it is to be an amateur.
Also, if anyone knows of a place to store the bike in Ankara for a month, that would be great. I need to fly back to the UK for most of March and the first week of April.
Thanks,
Bob

Try Adana
Hi Bob,
If you can make it further south to Adana there is an airhead guru by the name of Enver. I had some work done on my R100GS in Ankara by a couple of guys that normally work on Japanese bikes and wasn't terribly happy. I made it down to Adana and found Enver's Vintage Motorcycle. A classic guru doing everything by feel. If you scroll down the page on our website you'll see a photo of Enver's shop with the phone numbers:
Chapter 6: Turkey
Judging by the number of R80GS Kalahari's he had in storage I bet he would be happy to store your bike for a month too.

Hi Bob,
You can leave your bike to my place where i put my R1200GSA beside my apartment. It is not closed space so it is open to all weather conditions but it is safe place. We can store your goods in my balcony.
Cheers,
Ozgur

Ozgur
Ozgur,
That's really kind of you - thank you for such a generous offer.
Since posting the plea, however, I think I've found a garage
where I can put it. Given how the older BMW's a more likely
to rust and we're in rainy April, I need to keep it is as dry as
possible.
But thank you!
Bob

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
