The fan switch is screwed into the thermostat IIRC. Its a gravity return type mounted on its side, hence is probably stuck. It can short the warning light circuit giving a double whammy of no fan, no light. One of the many bits of F650 only designed to last until you traded it for an R1100/50. Easy enough to check, run the engine for about ten minutes and the fan should run.
I did about 1500 miles controlling the fan via a rewire to the horn button. Give it a burst of fan manually when traffic made it smell hot. Could be a useful bodge to keep you mobile while you find what Aprilia stuffed up.
