I have a 1999 R1100GS and I have squeezed 345km out of a 22 litre tank full and I still didn't run out before filling up. They go onto reserve warning very early and there is often a lot more fuel in the tank than you realise. On one occasion I even had to lie the bike down on the right hand side to allow the fuel to get across to the side where the fuel pump is so don't be fooled that you are empty - there a lot of juice in there , the problem is getting it to where it can be used. You might also benefit by looking at the cat code plug in the fuse box. Different countries have different settings depending on the emmisions regulations in the country it was built for. Some run leaner than others. I have a Remus exhaust on mine so no catalytic convertor and have removed the cat code plug. This makes my bike run richer so I actually use more fuel but the bike runs smoother so I prefer it but by playing with the cat code plug you can change the MPG you can achieve. Look over at UKGSER.com and search on "cat code plugs" and you'll see some of the possibilities. The other important thing to do is make sure your throttle bodies are well balanced and valves adjusted correctly. Both of these will help your MPG .
