The problem you face is that every state in the U.S. has different rules for registering a bike. I have been told by two reliable sources that California (my state) will not register any Euro bike that is older than 5 years. Newer ones have a chance. Other states such as Nevada and Oregon have much looser requirements. Also know that once any state has registered a bike, it makes it much easier for the bike to be registered in any other state.
(i.e. registered in Nevada, then registered in California).
