Problems with my F650 2001 in San Onobre, Columbia
Hey guys, I have found out that there is water getting into my oil. At first I thought the problem with my oil leaking was the oil switch sensor because all the leaking symptoms sounded exactly it. I did not have them weld the oil switch sensor yesterday because they did not have a 21 mm wrench. I instead bought a few quarts of oil and tried to make it to Cartegena. The oil light came on and I topped off the oil a few times. Than when I got close to San Onobre the oil light would not turn off and I decided not to go any farther.
(I checked the radiator here with a mechanic and the coolant does not appear to have any oil in it. The coolant level is fine and I do not understand why after adding 4 quarts of oil there are not more leak puddles on the motorcycle. The only evidence is a small puddle that collects on top of the engine behind the oil switch sensor.)
Yesterday, I had my suspicions that maybe the oil switch sensor was not the problem. The day before yesterday the oil leaks made me believe it was the oil switch sensor for sure (after reading numerous threads).
I am going to look for a truck to Cartegena here. My plan is to wait at the gas station with my motorcycle and my Columbian friend who is helping me get my entry stamp. Hopefully my Columbian friend can negotiate a deal for us to Cartegena.
Does anyone have advice on a good shop in Cartegena to go to? I may have to spend another night in this town because it is Sunday today and the motorcycle shops in Cartegena may be closed today.
