Good to know the problem is fixed.
But was this because the cable was pinching somewhere, ie. when the airfiter nossle was replaced was the throttle cable not seated properly or perhaps it was because the throttle cable was over adjusted, too tight at the handle bar, or something else entirely?
I ask because it would surprise me that the throttle cable was routed incorrectly or was the wrong length.
Also I notice quite regularly when my GS is hot that on deceleration the bike pops (not back firing), but this is because of the secondary plugs that fire on the exhaust sequence when the mixture going out is too rich, ie. there is a lot of unburnt fuel.
So it makes sense that your bike when it was running rich, with the throttle cable too tight that it would pop more frequently.
