No catch. I got the same reduction last year when I bough mine. Thats a standard discount for online purchases just like any other company that sells goods cheaper online than out the shop.
Go on buy a pair..you know you want to...

Just bought a pair!!
Just bought a pair of hog all weathers at Silvermans in Mile end (east london). They stock a few altberg boots. (they have web site)
I paid £140 for mine. I normally wear a size 12 but bought a 11. So if you do buy on line make sure of the size!!
But nevermind the costs etc.... They are GOOD BOOTS!!!!!
Comfortable as!!

Panic...help!
I just bought a pair of the Altberg Hogg Microlites - great boots but the fit on my crazy heterogenous feet just wasn't right. (Altberg were super-helpful and friendly and gave me a full refund).
So, I leave for the big one in about 10 days from London (Europe, Middle East, Africa...) - I want something that can act as my only pair on shoes/boots, that I can comfortably walk around in and that have good protection.... the altbergs were great for all of these reasons plus they're breathable.
I've checked out lots of posts but to be honest am no closer to finding a replacement (and fast!) for the altberg - does anyone have any great ideas?
Thanks in advance
Gareth

Boots to suit
My riding mate wears Altberg walking boots for the reasons that you identify - just got to be careful that the laces don't get tangled up with the pegs and you end up dropping the bike, but that is manageable........
So, any waterproof walking boot that is good for your fit and high enough to keep out the wind while riding - --- Lowe perhaps, but try any good climbing/hiking shop with a big range of boots in stock.
Thats my 2 cents worth!

Check out the site!
Welcome to Silverman's Secure Online Store
When I phoned altberg they gave me the above address.
They have loads of boots. Lowa included. I found Lowa very hard walking, but then I am comparing them to the altberg. Good luck! you still have to walk them in!!
