That version of the "Pepsi can stove" looks easier to make than some I've seen. It must be easy as you have to drink 2 cans of before you start!

Are you sure it works with petrol? The referred german page also says "benzin" but usually this kind of stoves use spirits, as you can see from easy blue flame in the video. In the example HEET that is basically spirit.

This kind of stove is very good (small, clean and simple) if you have access to spirits. I have industrial one in form on Mini Trangia. But if you don't have access to spirit then it is not much use as a backup.

Rebaseonu...... I'd have to disagree with you. Petrol will work just fine... very black and sootie but the coffee will be hot enough!

When i was in the army we were based on reconnaissance vehicles. When in a non tactical situation we used the thermette - a fantastic kiwi invention from 1929, used by the kiwi's in LRDG in the ww2 Desert campaign..... it's been used ever since. (i think in the US it's called a "volcano"

We would put the fuel dish in the bottom of it throw a handful of sand / dirt to soak up the petrol a bit and away you go.

i made one as a bet at work, i said i could make a camping stove in 15mins that would burn for 15mins and i won.
ive run mine on acetone, meths, brandy, petrol, it seems to work well on anything that gives off vapour when its warm.
also, if you make one with no outer edge holes but one 10mm hole, and make a wick from the fibreglass, it will burn parafin, hydraulic fluid, engine oil, vegetable oil, melted wax, stuff like that.
i DO NOT reccommend you cook food with some of these though, they stink!
