Sun Shelter Tarp in ALDI

dont know if this is country wide, but my local Aldi, Rugby. Has Sun shelter Tarps in at £19.99. It looks to be pretty big so great for camping. also appears to be water repelent.

I got one from Decathlon for the same money, I have used it as extra rain cover over my old (less than faithful) tent,

I think I might need it this weekend at Ripley

ALDI - Thursday Special Buys 10th July 2008

Cheers for the info. It's 2000HH so the waterproofing is good enough for the purpose.

I'd been looking into buying one of these as I use a small 2-man tent which is just about big enough for me plus gear. Can't be robbed at that price. I'll be having a look myself tomorrow morning.

Went to have a look yesterday. I didn't buy one as the pack size is a bit big possibly due to the poles being non-telescopic and the packaging said it weighed 5.7kg. You may as well just buy a bigger tent.

The decathlon one is much lighter and compact so I'd go for that out of the two. It's also half the price of a similar one by Robens.

Hi guys,

You can get British Army ones on t'internet for around £25. Very robust and definately waterproof. Can also be used as a stretcher(!) No poles though. I use telescopic walking poles if I'm somewhere with no trees.

Cheers Will great tip I couldnt believe how heavy the bag was but the tarp itself is pretty light. The cheap walking pole route is a good way to go.

Thumbs up Very Cheap Solution

Hi folks, just bought a 4m x 3m ground sheet for £4.00 from local camp shop.
2 second hand collapsable teepee alu poles that fold to 50cms and open to max 200cms[ about 6' 8"]. Cost £5.00 in donation to mountain rescue North Wales. A couple of rubber washers cut out as stoppers and several metres of old guy ropes. Works a treat and covers tent and bike if neccessary Total cost under a tenner.
