Advice for great rides in Costa Rica
Hi All,
Newbie to HU but not to Motorcycle Touring. 7 guys riding bikes for 10 days through Costa Rica, starting and ending in San Jose.
Can anyone offer any GREAT riding routes? We'd prefer to stay mostly on paved roads and take in some of the classic scenery and attractions.
All advice gratefully received!
Many thanks,
FBB

Update
Err.....wow. Thanks for all the great advice HU people! :-)
Home now. If anyone else is looking for good rides I can thoroughly recommend the route from Manuel Antonio to San Isidro and on to San Jose. Take rain-gear though as it's cold and often raining at the top of the mountain range you'll ride through.
There were also some cool roads on the ride from La Fortuna (Arenal) to Tamarindo. Only the first part though.
If anyone wants more info about roads or our general experience in CR, drop me a line and I'll give you some details.

from San Jose to the Poas Volcano to the Lake Arenal resort region, you will have good paved roads. If you want to see Monteverde, the rain forest with its attractions, be prepared for some rough roads. Once off of the volcanoes, you can head back to asphalt and the Pan American Hwy. and the Pacific Coast.
If you are renting from Wild Riders, there is you best source of current information. And do listen to the pre-ride pep talk. All Gold.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
