If you can hire bikes here from a guy named Oscar Calderon. If you look at the Mexico Meeting page from 2005 or 2006 you should be able to find hisd details. A Swiss friend rented a Suzuki DR650 from him and had nothing but problems with it. He switched it for a BMW for about 3 days that was better. His bikes are the berst you can find here. They are also the worst you can find here. In fact they are the only bikes you can find here. He rents out of Mex City but think can take the bikes to other places. He rented a F650GS to a guy in Copper Canyon the last time I was there and the guy was thrilled with it.
If you need more info send me a PM.
Good luck
Garry

A friend and I rented bikes from Oscar in 06 for a 9 day trip from Mazatlan to Creel. At the HU meeting in Creel we changed one of the F650s for the Suzuki which Oscar had been riding the whole week. The DR650 was not maintained to the same level as the F650s but it was more fun offroad. Oscar is a real nice guy and I would rent from him again.

There was a company in Ajijic just south of Guadalajara that was renting bikes. Welcome to Amigomoto. I'm not recommending them as I have never used them; but you may want to research them also.

I'd rather ride out of Ajijic than Mexico City on a bike anyday.

Also note that the words "Reliable" and "Mexico" oftentimes are not found in the same sentence.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
