Buy Bike San Diego or Tijuana
Hi,
I'm flying in to San Diego 20th September from Sweden and am looking to buy a cheapish dual sport to ride down the Baja for two weeks. Will leave the bike down south and fly back to San Diego 6th Oct. Aim to return next year to continue across to Campeche.
So - can anyone help me as to where I can get hold of a cheapish klr or equivalent. Also any tips on where to store in the south of the Baja?
thanks in advance
David

David, Mexican registered bikes are significantly more expensive than in the US due to taxes and supply/demand for used ones. Also, you'll find a lot of bikes (and cars) in Mexico that were not properly nationalized, if you buy in Mexico, make sure all the documents are in order. Because of the limited availability, I think it'll be a lot more economical (and easier) to find a bike in the US.
Craigslist is a great resource to find privately owned bikes for sale:

Good luck,

Hi,
I've tried Cragslist San Diego a couple of times. The two replies that I got said that they wouldn't sell to foreigners because of some registration problems with shift of title, not having a new registration adress could cause them problems or something. Can anyone explain?
Any way around this registation address problem ?
David
P.s. They also asked if I was Nigerian, which I'm not - never been near the place!
