There is a regular boat service between Punta Gorda BZ and Puerto Barrios GT but it is not likely you will be able to do the trip with a motorcycle because they use only the fiberglass-hulled launches with outboard motors and rows of passenger seats. There is no provision for getting vehicles aboard. The locals and backpacking and bicycling tourists use it as a convenient taxi service to P.B. and Livingston hauling their shopping and wholesale supplies Of course , with persistence you might talk one of the boaters into letting you wrestle a bike on board, load limits permitting.. Punta Gorda has a customs facility right at the entrance to the dock gates. In Puerto Barrios also the customs house is right at the harbor. This is also where you will have to do your paperwork if you plan to ride into Honduras via the new paved road from Highway CA9 south of PB thence Entre Rios and into Honduras ,to Omoa and then San Pedro Sula. Honduras has a customs house at that border but the Guatemalan aduana house 10km before the border does not process paperwork for tourist vehicles and will send you back to the customs house in Puerto Barrios.Nice route , did it this past winter. The SAT office ,the Guatemalan customs authority in Pto.Barrios, is located at the western end of the long main street to the north of the Restaurant Delfines at the waterfront.
There is a similiar passenger boat connection from Dangriga to Puerto Cortes ,Honduras. Same restrictions, no ferry, the office is located upriver several blocks west of the Riverfront Cafe.
In 2003 a Boat from Punta Gorda left daily at 9am and 4pm ,not on Sundays . A boat comes from Livingston, return trip, on Tue. and Fri.
