Flying the Gap
Okay, I'm resolved to the crate and fly, rather than sailing option, but from Panama City to which airport? I'd like to take in Columbiaand not view it from a plane window, but recognise that some of the nasties happen near the top of Columbia and around thereabouts. But looking at the Pacific coast, the first airport is a fair distance down. So thoughts please.
Also, booking ahead, is it possible to get an "approximately the last week"...type ticket, or is it a turn up, book and wait job?
Cheers m'dears.

Bogota, as the capital, has the most connections, if not the only ones. You can have a nice ride to the coast if you would like to have a look around.
They have pretty much daily flights (Girag) so usually no need to book ahead unless you happen to get there during a holiday season.

Thanks for that, I'll contact Girag and see whether we'll be hitting any Saints Days or Gov't Holidays.

Flying Bike to Columbia.
Lamble, I wrote this in late 2006 when I flew the Gap. http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...ta-quito-24053 There is additional information down in the thread and references to additional info. I think the only thing that may have changed is, OF COURSE, the price!!!!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
