Guatamala Passport Requirement

I'm going to Guatamala for a week to learn some Spanish before making the big bike trip. Problem is my passport will only have 4 months left on it by the time I enter for a weeks stay. Does anyone know if Guatamala requires a passport with at least 6 months remaining, like a lot of other countries?

Thanks.

From the US Dept. of State web page:
ENTRY/EXIT REQUIREMENTS: A valid U.S. passport is required for all U.S. citizens, regardless of age, to enter Guatemala and to depart Guatemala for return to the U.S. Even if dual nationals are permitted to enter Guatemala on a second nationality passport, U.S. citizens returning to the United States from Guatemala are not allowed to board their flights without a valid U.S. passport. Certificates of Naturalization, birth certificates, driver's licenses, and photocopies are not accepted by Guatemalan authorities as alternative travel documents. While in Guatemala, U.S. citizens should carry their passports, or a photocopy of their passports, with them at all times.
Say's nothing about how much time is left, but i'd be getting another passport soon!
If i recall, Guatemala only gives you a max. of 90 days, so i think you might be alright. One way to find out

Thanks Ron. Yeah my poking around the internet didn't get me a clear yes or no. So I'll play it safe and renew. Hate to get to the airport with non refundable tickets and get denied entrance.

passport

Get the new passport NOW , as soon as you can before leaving home even if possible. Many countries require that your passport is valid for at least six months from the date of entry. If not able to get a full term replacement at least see about getting a panic extension.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
