Honduras and Nicaragua
Arrived in San Jose, Costa Rica today, shaken, but not unduly stirred. They caught up to moonlighters like me. Both Nicaragua and Costa Rica require third party liability before they allow you to enter. So I had no chance.
Driving in these three countries is the pits. They don't signal, and drive too fast and erratically. Insurance doesn't seem to do any good here. Saw more accidents on the road in Costa Rica than anywhere else. Good to be alive, with a nice and clean riding jacket. Salud!

Werner,
Just read about your probs in Honduras. Sounds tough. I'd certainly agree that the standard of driving in Honduras was well below anywhere else in C.A.
Me and Matt are also in San Jose, and will be for a few days (Till sat). If you're around, we could meet up for a few jars. We are staying at the Tranquilo Hostel on 7th Av I think...
Our trip and ugly mugs are here so you can recognise us: http://www.wrongwayround.com
Hope the arm's ok.
Will

Hi Guys,
I'm at the Best Western on 7th Ave and 3rd C. No go at night. So I'll try to find your Hostal. If I haven't found you by 17:00 I probably got mugged.

And we arrived into Costa Rica from Nicaragua yesterday, and are at Playa Tamarindo, probably for the next few days. If you're coming to the beach, drop me an email, we'd love to share a few s.

Cheers Grant. We´ll be in San Jose until Monday, getting a few things sorted. When we´re on the move, we´ll let you know.
Werner, we came over to Best Western this afternoon, and 14 stabbings later we were in the reception finding that you checked out today - Let me know if you´re still around! Also, where are the tyre places you mention? We´ve found the plaqce on Av 7 that has Mich Ciras, but I think they´re a little road biased for us - Were there any other places?
Our email is on the contact page of http://www.wrongwayround.com.
Hopefully see you guys soon. (And don´t overtake before bridges on CA1 south of Liberia - A Policeman waits there and picks people off - We got away for free, claiming poverty and bad spanish... etc etc ..The latter came fairly easily.

And we're getting bored in Tamarindo, there's no surf at the moment. So, we're heading over to the Caribbean side probably until Monday, maybe stay in San Jose tonight on the way through.
We saw two Triumph Tigers parked in Tamarindo last night with Florida plates, but didn't see the riders. The country's thick with travellers!

Hi Guys,
Sorry to have missed you. I really tried not to, honest. Remember the heavy rain we had? I took a taxi to find your refuge. But the driver claimed he had no idea were that was. So, I jumped out, and looked on foot. After I got soaked throughly, I gave up, went back to the Western, and drowned my sorrow in and free bananas. What that does to my digestion!!!
Find the address of the Breymann motorcycle shop in the phone book. He sells all kinds, and has been doing for a long time. He'll fix you up. I know him from 1997.
Best of look to you guys. I'm in Panama City now, bike is with Girag, to be in Bogota on Saturday. I'll be there tomorrow with Copa.
Gotta run, regards, Werner.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
