Lost second gear in Guatemala – could use some help
I have a ’98 F650 with 37K miles and my second gear has decided to stop working ( it lunges if I apply any significant throttle to that gear). I’m currently on the border in Belize heading into Guatemala on my way to the land of fire. Once I get past the anger of having this BMW part fail, I will have to get it fixed. And according to the Chain Gang FAQ it’s a simple ten-dollar part that requires 16 hours of labor to get at (remove the engine split the cases). Though I would “love” to work on this myself, but I lack space and tools to do the job. So…
Can anyone recommend a good mechanic in Guatemala?
And where’s a good place to get a drink while I wait for the repairs?
Current plan is to head to the dealer in Guatemala City unless there a better option.
Thanks,
Kyle
