How long do you need to store your bikes?
Are you in need of long or short term storage? If you plan to return to Panama before the TVIP permit runs out, then storage is less complicated and should be easy to find. I recommend reaching out to the HOrizons Unlimited Panama Community list for advice. Go to this page and select Panama, then complete the form. If the person or persons that signed up are watching their email, then chance are you'll get a reply and hopefully useful advice. I used the Community area and connected with a guy in La Paz, Bolivia. He stored my bike for a few weeks. In turn I brought back some parts he needed...

If you need to store your bike longer than the TVIP permit, then you have options, but they are more complicated. In between countries there are sometimes businesses that store vehicles. Because they are in the no ma's land between countries there is no time limit to storing the bike, because the vehicle is not in either country. Or that may be my child like understanding and the business is really a bonded warehouse operating very near the border. Either way, the services will store your bike, in the open air or perhaps under cover. While riding through Central America I sometimes saw parking lots of very dusty cars very near borders. I always assumed the cars were impounded, but later believed they are stored.
Hoping someone will jump in here and provide the details of storage near the Costa Rica / Panama border, positive or not.
There are usually bonded warehouse services near international airports. If you find the right warehouse, you can store the bikes beyond the TVIP permit date at a reasonable rate. I understand that the insurance will run out, but the TVIP "clock" is suspended.
I sent a message to some riders currently in Colombia who mentioned knowing of a storage facility in Panama. They may contact you directly, but last I heard they were storing their bikes and headed into the mountains of Colombia, so they might not read this in time...

Storage in Panama
Hi - I'm one of the riders in Colombia who Peter mentioned... we know people who have stored their truck at a bonded warehouse in Chiriqui, David for $1/day. They then took a bus to Panama City to catch their flight back to the UK. I think the bus fare was pretty cheap ($16) and it seemed like a pretty easy process. If you're interested in more information, I'd be happy to get their contact information for you. Good luck!

You will have to store the bike in a bonded warehouse or in no mans land in Pasa Canoas, if you have the TVIP stamp uncancelled in your passport you may be fined $500 for leaving the vehicle in Panama.
There are a couple of covered parking lots in Pasa Canoas where you could negociate a price
If you need to store any gear I live near David & will look after it for you.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
