storage and 4x4 or similar rental in costa rica

sooo ...

i'm travelling by bike up to california (started in chile) and i've got a bunch of friends - three in total - coming to visit me in costa rica.

that means that i'll probably take a break of the bike and try to get my hands on a 4x4 or similar to get around CA.

so i've got two questions for you:

you know any 4x4 rentals ? still checking the internet but i thought it'd be worth to ask here.

also : you know a garage / similar where to securely store the bike in the meantime ?

thanks and cheers from colombia !

Hi Martin, I live in CR and there s a lot of storage places, for keep the bike secure, just dont forgert to reuturn before you TVIP expires, you have 90 days, according the law.

Also theres so much car rental companies with 4X4 cars, just to search, if you need so help just write me.

Storage places:

At the East side of San Jose
MiniBodegas del Este Self Storage Costa Rica

At the west side of San Jose

Storage Facilities San Jose | Self Storage Units San Jose

If you need to store a bike longer than the time allowed on your TVIP, look into a bonded warehouse. I posted some details from other reports and posted them here on the HUBB. Search the HUBB for 'bonded warehouse'

Not sure if you will be able to take a rental car across international borders.

nice ! y don't need to suspend the import, just store it securely (like safe parking for a few weeks).

will check the "bonded warehouse"

car rental across borders is not necessary, only for within costa rica (switching the bike for a 4x4 for a few weeks to be able to travel within CR with my friends)

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
