Noise cancelling or "sealing" ?

I think you're all referring to IEM (inner ear monitors) which seal to provide optimum bass response AND isolation from external noise.

The Etymotics and UE's are highly regarded.

"Noise cancelling" would require a feedback loop to permit phase cancelling of external noises - wind noise, jet-engine roar, but not effective on spurious noise or voice. This is available widely in headphones and effectively for as little as $150.

Thumbs up Shure Earphones

I have been using the Shure ear phones for years. They are fantastic and you can get different sized foam plugs to properly fit your ears. Wear them 10 hours a day no problem no pain and fantastic sound with great sound deadening qualities.

it works

Yes, I have two sets, very cheap Philips (SHN2600 - $20,-) and expensive Sennheizer (CXC700 - $220). The Philips work like a charm under the helmet. The Sennheiser doesn't work, above 80kmph some sort of static noise is generated and amplified. With the Philips, when I put on music while standing still, I can keep it at the same level up to 100kmph! That is excellent. And the exhaust noise is completely filtered out!

Cheers,
Noel

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
