Outback motortek xframe pannier racks
After much research i recently bought a set of these pannier frames to fit my ktm 890 adventure r. I really wanted to like them, but ended up sending them back. Here are my thoughts...
Pros:
Well made with nice welds and quality (powder?) coating.
Fit perfectly straight out of the box and a breeze to fit.
Movable xframe design interesting and useful.
Cons:
All bolts supplied were allen head rather than torx, as used on the rest of the bike.
I spent a long time studying images of different racks to decide which to buy, and a lot of the outback images differed, and the racks i recieved were different again.
Left and right racks were of a different design.
Left and right racks were made out of different diameter tubing, so my old zega panniers fit on one side but not the other.
The hoop which is supposed to recieve the buckles on the kreiga os bags was too small for the straps on my bags to fit through, so i could not mount these panniers.
If there had been a couple of minor irritations i would have lived with them, but as i was unable to mount both types of pannier that i use i decided that they were not much good for me.
I had a bit of back a forth with the uk importer (kreiga) who didnt really provide any answers, but did provide a refund.
So it's back to making my own...
Hope this helps someone.
Karl.
