I usually have some short trip. So i do not need to carry a lot of things. I think the backpack like this will fit me.

A riding mate was having all kinds of problems with his soft luggage on hard off-road rides. Straps, rivets, stitching at the stress points kept breaking/ripping out. Soft luggage may be best if most riding is on smooth roads - not so great in really rugged conditions.
Just an observation.

Oh yes I'm on a WeeStrom.
PS to Henry. I use PacSafe S/Steel webbing around my bags on the bike.

I have these and like them

As far as Aluminum, Plastic, or soft rear panniers. I think the Plastic, (Pelican etc) is a great compromise between soft and Aluminum. Super tough and while not easily reapairable, I have dumped my bike with them on several times and had no failures. They do a great job at keeping the dust out of my stuff as well.

Pacsafe
Hi Dave, Yes that's it.
I use a canoe bag, with padlock on the zip, with a rucksack cover.
Then the Pacsafe over the top of the lot. Which locks it to the bike.
For my helmet I use the Lid Pacsafe, which is w/proof.
I found a couple of gas mask bags at a Army surplus store.
I strap them to the MM boxes and they hold all my cooking gear and a couple of water bottles.
(If in doubt, brew up.
If all is well,
spread confusion, create doubt.
Then brew up)
So I no longer need tank saddlebags.
Hope that helps.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
