Source for rear spring.
What are some good sources where I can get stronger rear shock spring for my Yamaha XT225. I rode it from Las Cruces, NM to Ushuaia, Argentina a couple of years ago & had trouble with bottoming on severe bumps or pot holes. I'm planning a trip to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska this summer & want to be preparred for the frost heaves, etc. I just want to eliminate the bottoming, not worried about high speed handling. It's a 20 hp moto so 65 MPH is about the max speed. I weigh 200 lbs. (But usually loose weight during the trip, lost 28 lbs. in 4 months going to Ushuaia!) & 100 lbs luggage, plus tools & other extras. A bunch of weight, but well under the XT225's listed maximum load capasity of 403 lbs. Any suggestions on spring rates would be appriciated. Also opinions on straight rate compared to rising rate springs. I sort of like the idea of the rising rate spring where you have the initial softness of the stock spring for light loads with an increase of spring rate to handle heavy loads & stop bottoming. Thanks for any help you can give me. ....Pete Chester
