Touratech-rack and ZEGA-boxes
Gidday all,
I am riding a BMW F650 and I highly recommend the Touratech-rack and ZEGA-boxes for your bike. I have been using mine relatively heavily loaded for more than 25,000km on South American roads and those that want to be one AFTER buying the boxes from another traveller who had done some 80,000km more on them... including some falls! Simply excellent stuff this system!
Cheers, d

Well, I like the boxes (got them myself) but the original mounting-point are a joke.
I attached them with 6 mm bolds and nuts. It was a bit of a hassle to make it look good, but at least it's sturdy now.
-------------------- a few day's later ----
Ai... I found out that trying to put the bike on the center-stand is dangerous (and impossible) with the zega-boxes. My foot got stuck between the box and the stand, cousing the bike to fall (luckily away from me). So, very disapointed I dismanteld the boxes and send them back. I mean, when I am in the middle of nowere with a flat tyer, I would like to be able to put the bike on the stand. So, now I am looking for an other set of cases. Maybe the high mounted "H&B de luxe", of just hold on to my soft-bags.
BUT: Be warned, you could easely break a leg!

Noticed the same problem with the way that the panniers are mounted. The mounts are not particulary strong either
I am having rack made that you can unlock and remove the panniers easily if you get a puncture, but will be sturdy enough to take a spill.
The H&B mounts are not that hot either so beware.
I'm using ernie at overland solutions to build my racks as he makes by hand for a similar price to what you would pay off the shelf.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
