300Tdi Cambelt Problem
Hi,
I've got a 300Tdi with 107,000 miles on it. The cambelt was replaced when I boughht the vehicle but failed after 2500 miles. That was replaced with a new belt and pulley kit and I have just removed the cover to check the condition of the belt having driven another 2500 miles. About 1mm of the belt has already worn oon the front side. All of the pulleys have been replaced and there is no sideways movement from nay of the bearings or anything. Obvisously this new belt was also soon fail I reckon !
Anybody come across this before or have any suggestions as to what may be causing the wear ?
thanks
Simon

I think that there was also a new front cover with the kit, was that changed also?
i remember changing mine ages ago, it had a different profile on the inside where the belt could have rubbed.

Get a refund!
How frustrating. You probably already know that some early 300's had problems with premature belt wear, but 99% of these will have been corrected by now. It's more likely to be bad installation.
Don't believe you need to change the cover? (or at least I never have).
If it was changed by a third party, take it back.

Do a search on the hubb, there was some very extensive discussions about this a while ago, basically you need to make sure the pulleys have the factory mods to prevent premature belt failure I believe.
