Camper Body Building - Any tips?
HERE I was wondering about the Piaggio Porter (ex-Suzuki, ex-Bedford, ex-Isuzu) 4x4 as a suitable, if tiny, base for a camper. Unfortunately here in France it's not possible to buy the chassi-cab unit yourself and convert, you have to have it done by an accredited professional. Luckily I've found one close to me (usually a boat-builder) who'd be happy to do the absolute minimum (the body) and let me do the rest - thus saving me a bunch of cash.
So I'm wondering what tips people have for design and fitting out, especially as space is going to be at a premium. I'd like it to be able to sleep two, but it can be a double berth not twins. I'm wondering about some form of built in roof tent for this like the picture below. Obviously it'd be good to be able to sit inside if it's pouring, and cooking n side would be good too. Washing facilities I think can be fairly minimal, I can't see a shower fitting in there too, but if anyone's got thought on that I'd love to hear them.
