DAKAR old man emu (note the DAKAR)
Hi,
I'm well aware that the topic of old man emu's vs other suspension has been well and truly flogged to death and as I'm a newby to this forum I'm wary of overstepping the mark and getting "flamed".
The thing is I was about send off for a new set of ome's for my new HJ60 when the friendly chap that I was dealing with mentioned that ome now make a new cheaper (!) range called the DAKAR, the only thing different I can tell about them from a picture (apart from the price) is they have less yellow on them. So I went looking on the net and this is what I found:
http://www.4x4review.com/products/su.../ome-dakar.asp
This review makes them sound great but I don't know a lot about the reviewers, what I do know is that you bunch might have something to say. So my questions are the following:
1) Has anybody used specifically the DAKAR ome, are they as good as the famous ome's? Or is it a case of you get what you pay for? To give you a context I'm doing a London to Cape Town trip.
2) Generally is suspension that hard to fit? The price tag of £320 to fit sounds a little steep and while I'm no mechanical genius I'm not a cluts either. I figure I need to learn but if it's a specialised job I'll leave it to the experts. Suggested tools required?
Cheers all and if for some reason I've missed a thread on this somewhere else by all means ignore this one and let me know.
Thanks a ton
Simon
