Hi,
There has been some other LPG chat on here in the past, I think.
One of the major drawbacks of LPG is that, given its poor availabity in many/most parts of africa, you are basically lugging a big empty tank around with you a lot of the time. Having said that, you do have 'one shot' range extension capability.
The other concern is location of tank. A popular place, at least for Land Cruisers is in the underfloor wheel well, but then you've got to find somewhere else to put your spare. Admittedly, this doesn't apply for a Land Rover or Disco, but the bottom line is that anywhere your stow, say 90 litres of LPG, you can't stow 90 litres of petrol or water.
Maybe the final choice comes down to how much gear you feel your need for your trips. Yoour loaded configuration, might allow for an LPG tank to be carried at no penalty. If so, you've got the chance of relatively cheap motoring in Europe, while youre getting to wherever it is you want to go!
Cheers,
Andy
