Extra Mirrors for a RHD
Any suggestions for good quality wing mirror enhancements for a RHD Hardtop? When in a LHD country it can get a bit hairy pulling out into traffic when the junction is less than 90 degrees.
I have bigger landy mirrors with some of the small circle mirrors attached. This helps quite a lot, but there is still a blind spot.
I've seen what Halfords offer etc

Just modify your road position at intersections, you need to be more "square" on to the intersecting road. Ever noticed how trucks often block two lanes to ensure that they can see?

Old European roads sometimes don't allow this unfortunately - meaning you have to pull out and hope!

Hi Darrin,
Driving my RHD 90 here in the US - and it's a wagon with no rear windows so I can identify with your problem. Luckily here the roads are mostly in the grid format so the 90 degree turns work well for maximum visibility. I have to be very careful on right-turn merges though - I wish American drivers would learn how to use the filter lanes rather than stopping at the apex...
Anyway, I've used the big-circle blind-spot eliminators and Expedition Exchange have some nice convex mirrors, but in all honesty I've not found anything that really works other than 1) having a passenger or 2) good positioning and careful driving.
Let us know if you have other ideas.

Mirrors
have a look in caravan accessories stores as they do good range of 'strap on' mirrors that can be taken off when not in use.

Thanks Tony, I have seen many of these but I don't think they would be suitable (get knocked off to easily or stolen etc). The perfect solution for me would be stuck on the inside of the windscreen inside the vehicle I think.
I have larger slightly convex mirrors already, but these only really help with changing lanes on the motorway, not having to drive onto a road at a approximate 40 degree angle (France seems to have quite a few motorway entries like this).
When I do have a passenger to help she is usually asleep ;-)

I have the same problem with my 110 hard top. After nearly demolishing a VW camper in Sweden I fitted two of those little wide angle stick on mirrors which help but aren't ideal.
The best solution is a modest size truck wide angle mirror. The DAF CF range of trucks sport these. They have recently been replaced with 'no blind spot' larger types under an EU directive so the older smaller type should be available for next to nothing in quantity (Ebay ?). I was going to fit one just below my near side mirror but have now changed cars......

Hi Darrin,
Have you looked at the military wolf mirrors? They have longer arms designed for towing and the mirrors are more adjustable.
MTC 5083 Mirror Arm, Short
RRC 8400 Mirror Head
RRC 8443 Mirror Arm, Long
Not used them myself but they may be a solution.
As above i have tried the convex glass but it was next to useless, made no difference. I have settled on the 2" sticky mirrors now, but i only drive a 90 van and mostly with a passenger.
