Landrover parts in Gabon/Congo's

Can anyone help me out with an exact location of a Landroverparts shop or dealer in Gabon (Libreville) or Congo (Pointe Noir)
I've no big problems but I would like some spare UJ's, New panhard (poly) bushes and new rear break shoes.
As I said its nothing urgent but as I may be hanging around Libre for a while I thought I'd do some maintainace.
I've asked around locally but they keep telling me to go straight. Which doesn't help when you need to turn off somewhere

Cheers Ian

Hi Ian. I can't help with the location of a dealer, but I could send you the parts. The parts you want are all cheap, but the carriage charge with DHL will be approx £55.
Or, you can manage without the parts if you take it easy. For the panhard bushes, if they do wear out this makes the vehicle 'wonder' on the highway, but you can manage.
For the UJs, if one is on it's last legs you could take that propshaft off and lock the centre diff (I guess you're in a Defender) and just have 2wd until you can find another one. For your information the UJs on all Defenders (apart for the very early ones, 1984, 1985) and all the same, AND they are the same UJ for a Discovery (1990 to 1999) and Range Rovers from 1986 (ish) to 1995. There are lots of different parts numbers, but the external sizes are all the same.
For the rear brake shoes, if they wear down to the metal then this will obviously damage the drum. This would be a pain as you then need new drums, although your drums might need to be replaced anyway, as they do wear out.

Good luck! Hope the weather is better for you, it's been raining here every day for the past week. And we're planning on going camping tonight!

Cheers,
Matt

Thanks for your replies
Ive just changed all the UJs and am looking for new spares just in case:
The brakes will last to South Africa I hope
The play on the panhard bushes isnt too bad so that shoundnt be too big a problem

I will keep the info in mind if I do need anything.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
