Locking Wheel Nuts?
My Defender needs some new locking wheels nuts. I've used genuine LR ones for the last 15 years, but now all of the 'keys' are broken so may be easier to get a new set from somewhere...
Any suggestions please?

suggest you go for the spline , or internal Key type rather than the pin type as they tend to fail quicker . You dont mention if steel or ali wheels ?

I have never seen the point of them. I have never come across a set I couldn't get off in less than 5 mins with NO power tools.
But you do need a couple of extras beyond a wheel brace so the only person they will ever inconvenience is YOU when you get a puncture and can't plug it or find the lock nut key.

Not many power tools floating around in Africa where I use it.
For a few quid it's a sensible precaution - especially if parked up next to yours with no locking wheel nuts ;-p

Thats my point. You DON'T NEED power tools to get them off in 5 mins.
There are basically only a few types, I've taken them all off in less than 5 mins. Yes its easier if you have the key, but ask any scrap man and he'll give you the same answer.
The biggest deterrent to getting your wheels stolen is where you park, followed by the weight of your vehicle.
I'm not going to post on a public forum how to do it, but there is now a tool that can be bought on ebay etc that takes off half of them. Its not what its actually for obviously, but it saves a bit of hammering!!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
