Operate Starlink Internet directly by 12v
It is well known that you can now save electricity by deactivating the heating of the satellite dish. But the approximately 80 watt average load in continuous operation pushes even a good power and solar setup to their limits.
Here are instructions on how the hunger for electricity can be reduced by around 50% through direct operation via the 12v on-board network and an alternative energy-saving Wifi router.
That too is for those with 8 hour days because of remote working or vlogging etc - still quite a respectable consumption, other consumers such as notebooks and possibly monitors - are always additional grateful electricity consumers.

We still have to wait ourselves, we were able to examine and test this setup with travel friends last week, but we ourselves will switch to Starlink from this summer (23).
Without remote working, 4G/5G/LTE would have been enough for us, but even with a premium provider, the Swiss Alpine regions, for example, are often simply too thin. Interruptions in video calls just don't go over well.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
