All depends where you want to use it. I had an old Safari-Equip RTT which is the same as the prime-tech. I didn't get on with it at all We did use it in Wales in the snow though (many times). But even in high winds in Morocco I could not get on with it. unless it is sunny and windless (but then you dont even need a tent!) I wouldn't waste my money.

I have since sold it and bought a Maggiolina which I FULLY recommend

the only advantage the PT tent has is it is light (~30-35kg) due to its composate baseboard and thinner matress (compared to others).

righto, sounds like it may not be suitable.

i am driving to tanzania and back and staying out there. Theoretically i could be using it for upto 6months, but realistically at least 75 days

The primetech tent is being offered for £300, i have the option of a tentco tent for £750.

Price is a consideration but given the use it may see i need something to last!

can you advise please?

Cheers

Pete

The tentco is a cheaper ezi awn copy so will weigh a lot lot more than the primetech due to the wooden base. I looked at a new one and the build quality wasn't great either. The wooden base is treated before the fittings are attached and the screws were in at all angles, splitting the wood and exposing the untreated base, so it wouldn't be too long before the problems start.

Tentco

Hi Pete,
I'd like to offer some factual information, rather than armchair speculation:
After 3 years of commercial expedition use (you've seen how hard they work), my Tentco roof-tents are still as sound as the day I fitted them.
Regards,
Barrie

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
