TLC Meet Up on Salisbury Plain 20th November

Morning All,

I am organising a meet up of members of the European Toyota Landcuiser Owners mailing list that I run (see sig) on Salisbury Plain (UK) on the 20th November.

If you are an existing TLC owner or thinking about getting one do come along. We have a number of keen overlanders coming along already so there will be plenty of opportunities to check out other people TLCs as well as chat about past or future overlanding trips.

If interested, please drop me a line to julian@landcruisers.info.

Julian... where abouts are you RV'ing on the plain?

I'm only in Swindon, and spend a lot of time up there so i might well bump into you!

Do you mind a 90 tagging along/mingling in the group? (i'm fully off road prepped with recovery kit, so maybe some "road biased" vehicles might need a tow?)

what PMR channel will you be on?

thanks

Jamie

Hi Jamie,

Julian... where abouts are you RV'ing on the plain?[/QUOTE]

Since there are no other TLC specific events in the UK this is essentially a TLC only day aimed at past, present or future TLC owners as well as a providing a good chance for people from here and also the Euro Land Cruiser Owners list to meet up and put faces to names.

With so many of the TLC owners being keen on overlanding, the day is slighly biased towards that and to that end Chris Scott has kindly offered to do a talk on overlanding and his TLCs.

At this stage we aren't planning on any particular routes for the day, last year we just split into small groups and went exploring and will do much the same this year, although we now have a slighly better of idea of where we are going.

Having said all that you are welcome to join us (we did have some LRs with us last year), but please bear in mind that if we get too many people registering for lunch priority will go to TLC owners.

To find out more, do check out the website, more info is going up there on a regular basis.

Hi,

Just to update my original message with some more news on the day.

So far we have 25 vehicles (23 TLCs) coming and around 60 people. The breakdown of TLCs is as follows:
1 x 40 series
1 x 60 series
3 x 70 series
16 x 80 series
1 x 90 series
1 x 100 series

The day will be covered by Total Off Road magazine and 4x4 Magazine.

We are limited to 76 for lunch at the Bustard Inn, but should be able to fit more in for Chris' talk.

If you are interested in coming along, please register at http://www.landcruisers.info sooner rather than later - if we exceed the 76 limit for lunch I will try to organise meals at another local pub.

We could do with some more people with experience of the tracks on Salisbury Plain to help lead a group of vehicles, so if that sounds like you please let me know.

It's promising to be a great day out so do come along.

I'll register - I'm interested in seeing Chris talk about past trips etc.

I tend to go offroading on my rubbishy C90 bike/moped. Will that be alright with you? It'll give everyone a laugh I suppose!

Do you know if the route you are planning will have many long hills?
I'm usually Ok on byways, but I'm fairly slow, so I'll tag along, but probably won't keep up with too many of your friends :-)

I hope it isn't too wet! I'm not fussed about the cold now I've fitted heated grips ;-) but if it's wet or snowing, it gets a bit slippery on the bike...

regards,
Simon
