This company is about the cheapest for engels in the UK. If your going to go for the MT45 ask for the 40th aniversary model as it has an inbult temp gauge, these are the normal fridges sold in OZ but it seems to be taking a while for them to filter through over here.

Yes, space is always at a premium, but smaller fridges can also be a hassle.
The Engel MT45 can take the shop bought 1.5L water bottles standing upright, whereas smaller fridges will require water bottles to be on their side...
Like any aspect of your overall packing system within the space available, a little thought on how you will personally use it day to day without it becoming a pain is worthwhile...
The longer the fridge door is open while you rummage and re-pack is not efficient when camped up and using solar power...
Just some idle thoughts mind you...

Our present fridge (freezer), is an ARB 45L, which I believe is just a re-badged Engel (and it certainly looks identical). It's been very good, but not quite as good as our previous Minus 40, which was really phenomenal. The Minus 40 uses a Danfoss compressor, but the ARB uses a Tecumseh unit, which they call a "swing motor". I don't know how the other factors compare (reliability, power consumption, wieight and bulk etc.), but I believe the Danfoss to be the more (and most) effective compressor. As far as I know the NL and the Minus 40 use the Danfoss, but the Engel uses the Tecumseh, the same as ARB.

I Have the Waeco Coolmatic CF Range. The CF25 I use as a Freezer and a CF 40 which I use as a fridge. Had no problem with them. Like the fact that they are made out of very tough impact plastic so they dont dent rust etc and are very light too. Turbo button takes the CF 40 down to -25 deg from a ambient temp of 24 deg in about 30 min which is amazing. Well made and good customer service, you cant go wrong.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB.
