A Two Week Holiday

Hi People

I’m just thinking about my summer holidays next year, not ready to quit work and do the big one yet, that’s in a couple of years. I need scratch the itch a little, how long do you recon I would need for short trip into the Ukraine? Leaving from the UK, do you recon it could be done on a 2 week summer holiday? not sure if 14 days is time to enjoy it ? I did a rush job in 2006 and, it was a pain in the ass...

Kiev ...

I was in Kiev last year and loved the place. I think 2 weeks is pushing it. I too am thinking / planning my euro trip. I am going to ride about the Baltics. The distances are a little less. Poland, Estonia, Lativa ... single bloke, hence not wanting to spend lots!

You could get the Santander ferry from Portsmouth (?- think its portsmouth!), fire through Spain and into Morocco, no worries. (If you are looking for alternative suggestions, if not just ignore me!)

Just looking at the 'ol map, and i reckon it's do-able but it'd be another rush job. Perhaps 3 days to the Border (so 6 in total with the return...), and a week there. And isn't it Carnet territory? I guess you're looking for somewhere a bit more exotic than West/CentEurope, but how to get to such a place quickly without wearing yourself/bike out? If you're doing it on the cheap i'd be inclined to look closer to home, or with some more expenditure to hand i'd really look to an "assisted passage" i.e. ferry/train. It's a knotty one, for sure...

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
