I used the train option last year and it is indeed a lot more pleasant than crunching all those motorway miles. But, DBahn no longer offer the connection to Villach, so the only option that still exists as far as I know is NS. And compared to DBahn the prices from NS are extremely inflated.
I'd love to hear if there are any other alternatives.

There is a reasonable long thread about Bosnia, Montenegro and Serbia track and trails on AdvRider. It is being discussed that a number of roads in Montenegro are being sealed as fast as they can get away with it.
But in general the Balkans are an greenlaning paradise, more or less everything goes. Only thing is that after the flooding in Bosnia in 2014, some of the minefields moved around ...
Ukraine is not too bad either...

Anyway, to the point. Myself and a couple of friends are looking at doing a small road trip, only a couple of weeks, from London through central Europe out to Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia etc etc then circling round and going back through Czech Rep and so on.
The idea is to blast through France/Belgium/Germany to get out to the Balkans as we only have 2 weeks.
So any advice would be appreciated. Or just general comments on the area, what to see and so on!
thanks!

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
