Bosnia, Montenegro and Albania?

Hi

I will be riding through Bosnia, Montenegro and Albania before hopping on a boat to Italy in a couple of weeks time. Anything special I need to know about customs, insurance etc? I'm guessing I can just figure it all out at borders but let me know if there's something I need to arrange in advance...!

Thanks for any help!

Nothing you need to know really, you can get insurance at the borders for Bosnia and Montenegro, not sure about Albania as my insurance company covered me there.

Lovely part of the world enjoy

Relax

Just relax and ride on, nothing to be worry about. Soak up the scenery, meet new people, and do not miss Albania.
If you're coming to Zagreb, send a message to grab a or two, or if in need of anything else, just hail

ride on

Ask your insurance company for the green insurance card. This "certifies that you have at least the minimum compulsory Third Party insurance cover required by law in the countries you visit." See post http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...nce-card-34648

Fully agree, head up to Plav/Gusinje in MNE while your at it. Also if crossing the border between BIH and MNE do so at Scepan Pole, its a fantastic route alon the canyon. Not to be missed, one of the worlds beat rides/drives IMHO.

I can tell you the green card for Bosnia is 25 euros.
I was travelling south from Dibrovnik and went up the wrong road. I came to the Bosnian border and they wanted to hit me up for a green card so I just turned round and found the right road for Montenegro.

I'm likely to be in Zagreb in August. Any recommendations for camping in the area, or cheap hotels with secure parking for bikes?

Cheers,
Liz

If you don't get any recommendations nearer, this place is around 30 miles away from Zagreb.

I've stayed here a couple of times, fantastic showers and overall a nice place to be. N45.41962 E15.48377

Do any of the UK insurer companies include BiH and Montenegro on the Green Cards they issue? Or is it only insurance companies on the other side of the channel that include countries in the continent of Europe in their European cover?

They SHOULD include it,indeed they are legally obliged to include it as the UK is a signatory to certain legislation, as are say BiH and MNE, oddly as is Iran too for that matter.

Like all big corporations, they may or may not though. Check it out when you renew your insurance, or write to the actual company that underwrites your policy.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
