Hi my name is Igor and I'm planing to drive to romania (from croatia) this July and every information is helpful.

So far mikeccm was kind enogh to give me some infos and I'd like to share it with other members of HU:

roads here are very good the government has been renewing then for the last 6year, there are some temp repairs but for the most you will want to keep the bike in sport mode.

you dont need a rovineta and the police are no problem they do not bother bikers. in the vilages keep to the speed limit or 10kmp above and you will be okay. the police with radars mainly stay in the villages so you can ride 140-150kmp after but keep an eye open. the worst penatly for speeding will be about 30 euro and can be payed to the policeman there an then but usaly you just get a warning.

as for tyres i presume you are running tubeless so carry a can of infatable foam repair, or better still buy a tubles repair kit with the small compressed air canisters then you can make the repair on the rode side youself.

a tip to find the hole is mix some shampoo with water and pour onto the tyre as you rotate it, you need air in the tyre so use one of the canistes or a hand byclce pump when you see the shampoo starting to bubble thats the hole.

there is a tyre repair shop nearly every 300 meters in the villages of romania look for a sign which says vulcanizare that tyre repair in romanian not hard to miss they have a tyre outside by the sign. we have a contact for tyres here if you need.

mikeccm answerd few more questions regarding my trip to romania so I'd like to share it with rest of HU comunity:

petrol: for fuel only stop at big filling stations rompetrom, omv, luk, all take credit cards safe with chip and pin card the small ones have poor quality fuel. the big stations have 95. 98. 100 octane fuel. do not let the pump attendant fill the tank they are so retarded they will scratch the tank with the nosel and press the trigger so the fuel slashes back and covers your bike in petrol so chance of your bike going up i flames.

curency/cash: use the credit card for fuel. don't buy lie at the exchange shops just use the cash points/ATM find them at most petrol stations, your credit card company will charge you a commission but you have to be carfull most exchange shops are okay but as a foreigner you my get f... on commission

roads:forgot to tell you about the road makings the white lines are painted on the road do not break or accelerate on them they are slippy as hell and you can drop the bike.

safety: you will see girls on the side of the road wanting a lift. they not wanting a lift there prostitutes so be carfull they have a Gypsy man in the bushes ready to rob you.

food & beverage: don't know you budget but water and juices are more expensive at the petrol station stop at a little shop and buy 2ltr bottle same price a half liter at the petrol station. everything else pay in lie food hotels etc.

hi martin,
last time i was there it was very basic, could have changed will have a ride out there and take a look for you. there is a better one in brasov thats another 20 30 mins ride. or your welcome to stop at my house in brasov have a couple of comfy spare rooms, you can shower have some washing done and have tools and padddock stands so you can give the bike a once over before you continue. can also advise on places to go and things to see.
will be in the uk in a week or two and will be using M11 A14 A1 to get to the north so sort of pass oxford would be nice to meet and take a look at your map and planned route. send me a p.m if you need any more help.
