Coming to France in the next couple of weeks (22-02-2010)?
If you're coming to France in the next couple of weeks you might want to fill up with petrol before you get here, it looks like the Total refinery workers are going on strike so everyone's panic buying. The local bar has run out of 95 unleaded today, but then they do have a small tank. The radio feautred an interview with someone in Rennes who'd been queuing for an hour!!
Of course this could all blow over tomorrow and we'll all be fine, but better safe than sorry (oh and don't forget driving with a full jerrycan is illegal in France).

We've just come back from France two days ago and had no problem either on or off the autoroutes. Only queues seemed to be Brit 4x4s buying cheap French diesel before the ferry. Didn't see any reference to it on French tv either, has it just sprung up suddenly?

I know caught me be surprise too, just seems to have popped up out of nowhere. Saturday nothing, Monday mad rush to buy fuel. Probably all be over by Wednesday I understand it's n ot all refinery workers, just Total, but these things can have a habit of spreading in la belle France.
Still it's an excuse to go nowhere and drink more coffee in bars.

The industrial action has been suspended, but it was a shock how quick the stations ran dry!
