Corsica in august
Hi Mark,
a trip to Corsica is a good idea it's a very nice island. But don't do it in august. It's too hot and full with other tourists. ;-) (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corsica) We staid there three times in september or october and it would be more relaxed. Nice places are
- Corte a city in the middle of the island
- the coastal road at the north west side. the area is called "Callanques de Piana" between Ajaccio and Calvi, around gulf of Porto.
- Bonifacio in the south
- nice daytrip D147 starts in Ponte Leccia (D47), Church ruin Castifacio. than follow D147 Asco valley.
Generaly the west side is more interesting than the east side.
And yeah, do a trip around the north top of the island from Bastia follow the D80 to Saint Florent.
Thats the first thing I remember. but feel free to ask.
Nice vacation there NightAlp

Just got back from Corsica. Generally agree with Nightalp.
In addition, there is a campground in Bonafacio as you come into town.

Thanks for the replies. I do know asci and other camping sites, and carry full garmin mapping but it's always nice to get peoples experiences, thanks again.
Unfortuately already booked time off and ferries, I love the heat, but tourists, agree.
Got 15 days on the island, 4/5 days down and 1 week back up, so a relaxing jaunt, hopefully.
Thanks again, Mark
