Cyprus help please: need to get my car there.
Hi, my wife and I are about to set off driving from the UK to and through Africa on an Overland trip for a year or two.
On the way to Africa we need to be in Cyprus (south) for 4-6 weeks for a wedding in early June. We will therefore need to take our own car from mainland Europe into Cyprus.
I understand that Grimaldi may go into Cyprus with a freighter from Italy, but we had hoped to tour Greece and / or Turkey for a while before finding a way into Cyprus.
I understand that this is pretty difficult.
So, I have 2 questions please:
1) How can we get our own car into either Northern Cyprus or Southern Cyprus?
2) If we were able to get it into Northern Cyprus, would we be able to take it into Southern Cyprus?
Finally, just to complicate matters, we will ultimately need to freight our car from Turkey (Mersin) into Egypt (probably Alexandria) after the wedding (since we can't drive through Syria!), so we would rather not have to come back out of Cyprus and all the way back to Italy, just to then have to drive all the way round to eastern Turkey for the ship to Egypt.
ANY ideas would be REALLY appreciated.
Regards
Scott
ps - we leave the UK on Monday! Oh boy!

Thanks Mehmet,
Re point 1 above, their booking websites seem to be broken (and don't look like they have been updated for some time).
I wondered if they had stopped running the ferries due to the economy / difficult trading conditions. I have emailed them for more information & hope they will respond.
I am also trying to find out more from another ferry booking site Turkey-Cyprus Ferries Index
Re point 2, that's really helpful information. Thanks.
Much appreciated.
Regards
Scott

Merhaba (Hello),
Even thats winter schedule, free space always available and no need for prebooking...I do this trip at least twice every year, and friends do both destinations many times...Never did prebooking...After April, more ferries will be running...
No economical crisis at Turkey side..As you will see while travelling, all gulf capital is here and Turkey is being rebuilt..No fiesta here...
Just some political crisis while entering Egypt, means waiting for several hours on board before landing...
The only bad news for Turkey is gas prices..
Have a nice trip, Hayırlı yolculuklar..
Note...:
1- All questions and comments (prefer negatives) about Turkey always welcome..
2- Just a reminder...If you wish, you can leave your vehicle in Turkey up to 1 month, exit without and enter again..You just need to fill anex-7(if you have a parking place) or anex-8 (if you will park at customs) application form to customs and get a confirmation stamp....Forms available at all bordergates and link to the copy in Turkish and English..(anex 7-8 click on view full note.) https://www.facebook.com/mehmet.avar.12/notes
3- Be at the port at least 4 hours(for bikes), or 6 hours (for cars) before the ferry leaves.Ferry personal will tell how to do the paperworks...Better to have some cookies, water and in the baggage...
